What hardware is needed for maximum performance?
To achieve the stated maximum performance increase, we recommend or require, depending on the desired tuning:
- Aftermarket rear silencer or sport exhaust
- Sport air filter, e.g., the MWR Sport Air Filter MC-050-10
- Open or optimized air filter cover
Suitable options include exhaust systems from Akrapovic, LeoVince, or MIVV, as well as sport air filters from K&N and MWR. Systems from Remus, Arrow, or Austin Racing and air filters from BMC or Rade Garage are also suitable.

No additional hardware necessary
No additional control unit is installed on the motorcycle for the software optimization. Your original ECU is programmed by us. The control unit is not opened or damaged in the process and remains unchanged from the outside.
The software number of your ECU remains unchanged, and KTM diagnostic tools can continue to be used without restriction.

How much power does the tuning for the KTM 690 SMC-R 2014 to 2016 provide?
Depending on the installed hardware, we achieve approx. +4 to +7 hp and +8 to +11 Nm more torque. The greater gain lies in the drivability: more homogeneous power delivery, no throttle snatch, and no torque dip at approx. 4,500 rpm.
Do I need an additional sensor for the Quickshifter GP Plus?
No. The FLAWLESS Quickshifter GP Plus works with the existing gear position sensor on your 690 SMC-R and continuously learns its changes. No additional hardware is required.
Do I need a dongle for the Supermoto ABS?
No. The FLAWLESS Supermoto ABS is programmed directly into the ECU. An additional Supermoto dongle is not necessary.
What is the Safemap?
The Safemap is an additional mode for the FLAWLESS Gear Switch. When starting normally, the motorcycle runs on Map 1 with the stock mapping, and the map switch is locked. Only when you start the ignition while in second gear is the optimization active and the map switch enabled again. When ordering, you choose whether the Safemap is configured as the stock A-map or stock A2-map.
What is the benefit of the CAN-Mapswitch?
With the CAN-Mapswitch, you can change maps from the handlebars instead of using the switch under the seat. Additionally, the Quickshifter and Supermoto ABS can be activated and deactivated using the switch buttons.
Is the software tuned to my exhaust system?
Yes. During tuning, we take into account the installed silencer, air filter, air filter cover, catalytic converter, and other relevant modifications. Please provide these details in the comment field of your order.
Does the optimization work with a catalytic converter?
Yes. Performance increases, map switching, Quickshifter GP Plus, Supermoto ABS, and linear throttle are all possible with a catalytic converter. If a catalytic converter is present, we only program a more subtle exhaust burble for the pops & bangs.
Do I need a performance air filter for the optimization?
No. The software optimization also works with the stock air filter. However, for maximum performance gains, we recommend a performance air filter, an open air filter cover, and an aftermarket silencer.
Does the ECU need to be opened for programming?
No. The ECU is not opened or damaged during programming. The optimization is also not detectable from the outside.
Can I still use a KTM diagnostic tester?
Yes. KTM diagnostic testers continue to work without restriction, as the ECU software number remains unchanged.
How long does the processing take?
After we receive your ECU, processing usually takes place within 24 hours. For shipments from Switzerland, the processing time is typically 24 to 72 hours.
Is the optimization suitable for the 2014 to 2016 models?
Yes. This software optimization is specifically intended for the KTM 690 SMC-R model years 2014 to 2016. We offer separate optimizations for models from 2019 onwards.
Am I allowed to use the optimized software on public roads?
The software deviates from the factory standard. Use is permitted exclusively on closed-off terrain or the racetrack.
