KTM EXC-F 500 Tuning 2024 to 2026 – what the Performance Flash achieves

The FLAWLESS ECU Performance Flash replaces the stock software in the original KTM EXC-F 500 engine control unit for model years 2024 to 2026. The injection, ignition, lambda control, and throttle valve characteristics are adjusted – resulting in around 3 to 4 hp more power and 4 to 6 Nm more torque, and with the FLAWLESS Performance Kit even 7 to 8 hp, without any additional control unit on the motorcycle.

Unlike piggyback modules or external tuning boxes, we intervene directly in the stock software. The optimization remains invisible from the outside, the ECU software number does not change, and KTM diagnostic testers can continue to be used without restriction.

We tune every piece of software individually to your motorcycle and the hardware actually installed. Upon request, it can be combined with the FLAWLESS Power Mapswitch, the FLAWLESS Gearswitch, the FLAWLESS Startup Map, our FLAWLESS Quickshifter GP, the FLAWLESS Hardcut Limiter, the FLAWLESS Launch Control, and an individually configured overrun fuel cut for pops & bangs.

Performance upgrade for the KTM EXC-F 500

We write the tuning software individually for your KTM EXC-F 500 and adapt the maps to the hardware installed on your motorcycle.

Depending on the setup, we achieve an increase in power of approx. +3 to +4 hp and around +4 to +6 Nm of torque. In combination with the optional FLAWLESS Performance Kit, even +7 to +8 hp peak power is possible.

KTM itself does not provide an official power rating for the EXC-F 500. Our values therefore refer to the difference compared to the stock state, measured on our dynamometer.

As part of the KTM EXC-F 500 ECU tuning, we adjust the injection maps individually to your installed setup and optimize the air-fuel ratio.

This allows exhaust temperatures to be reduced, thermally relieving the engine, exhaust valves, and cylinder head.

Retrofitting a CAN-Bus map switch for the KTM EXC-F 500

To use the 3rd map and other additional functions, the new CAN-Bus map switch is required.

When selecting the retrofit, we include the appropriate map switch along with the required adapter. The map switch does not need to be ordered separately.

FLAWLESS Power Mapswitch for the KTM EXC-F 500

With the FLAWLESS Power Mapswitch, you can switch between 2 maps while riding – and with the appropriate configuration, between 3 maps.

For example, Map 1 can contain the stock mapping or a restricted configuration, and Map 2 the complete FLAWLESS ECU Performance Flash with all desired functions.

You select which functions can be controlled via the map switch directly in the configurator.

FLAWLESS Gearswitch for the KTM EXC-F 500

With the FLAWLESS Gearswitch, you specifically lock the additional maps and only unlock them via a defined start procedure.

During a normal start of your motorcycle, only Map 1 is active. If, however, you start in 2nd gear, map selection is unlocked and you can switch between the available maps as usual.

FLAWLESS Startup Map for the KTM EXC-F 500

With the FLAWLESS Startup Map, you determine which map your motorcycle automatically starts in after each ignition cycle.

For example, if you choose "Start in Map 1", your EXC-F 500 will always start in Map 1 – regardless of which map was active before switching off.

FLAWLESS Quickshifter GP for the KTM EXC-F 500

With our FLAWLESS Quickshifter GP, you shift up precisely and quickly without pulling the clutch. Thanks to our specially developed custom code in the engine control unit, the quickshifter works much more precisely and functions even during the shift from 1st to 2nd gear.

The Quickshifter GP works with the existing gear position sensor and uses the reference values already learned in the control unit. Manual reading or individual adjustment of these values is not necessary, and no additional sensor is installed.

Thanks to the closed-loop system of our code, the ignition is only released again once the gear change is completely finished. The interruption time adaptsively adjusts to the respective shift process. This prevents the ignition from being reactivated too early, as can happen with systems with fixed interruption times.

Optionally, we also offer the popular shift acoustics or "shift bangs." In the configurator, you choose on which map the shift acoustics should be active and on which not.

FLAWLESS Hardcut Limiter for the KTM EXC-F 500

With the FLAWLESS Hardcut Limiter, we activate an additional 2-step limiter. You select when or on which map it should be active directly in the configurator.

Depending on the setup, the hardcut limiter provides particularly aggressive acoustics and can produce visible flames at the exhaust.

Important: Excessive use of the hardcut limiter can lead to engine damage.

FLAWLESS Launch Control for the KTM EXC-F 500

With our FLAWLESS Launch Control, we bring the start function known from the SX-F and FC models to your KTM EXC-F 500 as well.

Optionally, we offer a launch control with an acoustic function. In this mode, the hardcut limiter is active during the start phase, providing aggressive hardcut acoustics and – depending on the setup – visible flame formation. As soon as you release the clutch, you continue the start procedure as usual.

Pops & Bangs and overrun rumble on the KTM EXC-F 500

We tune the overrun fuel cut of your KTM EXC-F 500 individually to your setup and your preferences – from subtle overrun rumble to clearly audible overrun pops.

In addition, we can specifically assign the pops & bangs function to individual maps upon request. This allows you to ride with a subtle tune on one map and activate full acoustics on another.

Individual tuning to your setup

Every software optimization for the KTM EXC-F 500 is tuned to the installed setup of your motorcycle. Please provide the following information in the comment field when ordering:

What hardware is required for maximum performance?

To achieve the stated power increase, an aftermarket end muffler is mandatory for the EXC-F 500, e.g., from Akrapovic or FMF.

For the maximum stage of +7 to +8 hp, we additionally recommend the FLAWLESS Performance Kit with our intake and the MWR sport pod air filter. The other optimization functions are available to you regardless of this.

How the software optimization of your KTM EXC-F 500 works

1. Configure – Order your FLAWLESS ECU Performance Flash and select the desired options.
2. Send in the control unit – Remove the ECU from your KTM EXC-F 500 and send it to us well-packaged and insured.
3. Programming – Upon receipt, your control unit will usually be processed by our technicians within 24 hours. For shipments from Switzerland, the processing time is usually 24 to 72 hours.
4. Install and ride – We will send your control unit back to you. Connect, install, done.

No additional hardware necessary

No additional control unit or external tuning box is installed on the motorcycle for the software optimization. Your original ECU is programmed by us. The control unit is not opened or damaged and remains unchanged from the outside.

The software number of your ECU remains unchanged and KTM diagnostic testers can continue to be used without restriction.

Does the quickshifter also work from 1st to 2nd gear?

Yes. Thanks to specially developed custom code, our FLAWLESS Quickshifter GP already works during the shift from 1st to 2nd gear.

Do I need an additional sensor for the quickshifter?

No. The Quickshifter GP uses the existing gear position sensor and the reference values already learned in the control unit. No additional sensor is installed.

What does the Hardcut Limiter do?

It activates an additional 2-step limiter, the map for which you determine in the configurator. Depending on the setup, it provides particularly aggressive acoustics and visible flame formation. Excessive use can lead to engine damage.

What does the FLAWLESS Launch Control do?

It brings the launch control known from the SX-F and FC models to your EXC-F 500. Optionally with an acoustic function, where the hardcut limiter is active during the start phase.

Is the software tuned to my exhaust system?

Yes. We take the installed rear silencer, header, air filter, and other relevant modifications into account during tuning. Please provide these details in the comments field of your order.

Do I need an aftermarket rear silencer for the optimization?

For the specified performance increase, yes – an aftermarket rear silencer is necessary for this on the EXC-F 500. The remaining optimization functions are available to you even with standard hardware.

Can I still use a KTM diagnostic tool?

Yes. KTM diagnostic tools continue to work without restrictions, as the software number of the ECU remains unchanged.

Does the control unit need to be opened for programming?

No. The ECU is not opened or damaged during programming. The optimization is also not detectable from the outside.

How long does the processing take?

After we receive your ECU, processing usually takes place within 24 hours. For shipments from Switzerland, the processing time is typically 24 to 72 hours.
